Submissions
We welcome submissions in all genres of short film. This includes drama, comedy, animation, music video, documentary, pilot, and trailer. As long as you keep it “tight” and “short,” ranging from one to twenty minutes in length.
Deadline
This is an ongoing, quarterly festival, so the deadline is rolling. However, submission alone does not guarantee that your film will be selected for screening at the festival.
Short films considered for screening will be chosen based on the quality, authenticity, and originality of material. We will not weigh production value as heavily as the quality of the script, acting, and direction. If your short is selected, you will be notified by a member of the Tight Crew about the date and location of the festival for your screening.
Before you submit your work, please review the film guidelines below to determine if the Tight Shortz Festival is for you.
Tight Guidelines
- If your short is in a language other than English, make sure to include English subtitles in the film.
- For your protection, please do not submit the original copy of your material. Make another copy and send it to us. Submissions will not be returned.
- We encourage you to copyright your film before you submit. You don’t want anyone else to take credit for your blood, sweat, and tears.
- Download and fill out the entry form to submit your film.
- Or, go paperless through “Without A Box.”
- Use a separate entry form for each film you submit. One title and one tape per form.
- Submit your film in DVD, VHS, or VCD.
- We accept money orders and checks. The Tight Crew prefers money orders. Nothing personal, just a safety precaution. Include a check or money order for your $25 entry fee, made out to “Tight Shortz.” Your check or money order must be in U.S. dollars and are non-refundable, no exceptions. We do not accept cash, so please don’t send it.
