I write for TV

Eric Haywood got his start as a music video director while earning a degree in filmmaking from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.  After relocating to Los Angeles, Eric landed writing jobs on such TV shows as Showtime’s Soul Food: The Series and NBC’s Hawaii.  He participated in the Guy Hanks and Marvin Miller Screenwriting Program and has written and directed three short films: Staring at the Sun, Intersection, and Nick of Time.

Most recently, Eric wrote the Hallmark Channel Original Movie Relative Stranger, starring Eriq LaSalle and directed by Charles Burnett.  After premiering in the spring of 2009, the film garnered a Best Supporting Actress Emmy nomination for Cicely Tyson.  His latest screenplay, On Bended Knee, was also purchased by the Hallmark Channel, and is slated for production in early 2010.

Nick Of Time is about a young man who stumbles upon a unique way to avoid getting dumbed by his girlfriend.

Their different outlooks on life start to reach boiling point. Today is Vicky’s birthday. And she wants to celebrate and have some fun and romance. And Carl’s world is about to be turned upside down by his own unwillingness to take risks. It’s at this point when we realize what is and what could have been with Carl’s life — with any life. His work has appeared in such prestigious awards shows Eurobest (Gold), Cannes, and British Design and Art Direction.

Recently, Roderick moved to Los Angeles to continue growing his career and pursue long format projects for Television and Cinema. His short film ‘Careful Carl’ was an official selection at the 2009 Palm Springs International Film Festival as well as the Philadelphia International Film Festival and several other notable festivals.

Roderick has just finished post-production on his latest short film ‘Future Dave’. It’s a comedy about a young man who is forced to confront his future – and his alternate future – all while trying to have sex with his girlfriend. It can be seen at a festival near you.
